Recent Milestones

Implemented the Sunflower Asset Management for the central units in January 2006. This system replaces the older Equipment Accounting System which ran on the mainframe. Successfully integrated the graduate and undergraduate web-based admissions application systems with SCT Banner and went live with the Recruiting and Admissions module on July 17, 2006. Implemented the SCT Operational Data Store, a reporting tool initially for Student and Advancement in July 2006. Released the Banner Catalog for use at the end of July 2006. As of Summer 2006, successfully converted all courses in WebCT campus edition and Blackboard to WebCT Vista completing the transition to one standard for course management systems at UAB. Implemented a WebCT Vista Training Institute and consultation to support on-line training initiatives in Research, HRMDT, and Health system.

Implemented basic and enhanced Blended Learning workshops and have educated 153 participants (faculty, professionals and nonprofessionals). Completed the following Oracle upgrades: Security, Technology stack, mandatory payroll releases. Implemented a campus-wide SPAM tagging and elimination project. Expanded the campus-wide Exchange Email system. Continued expansion of the wireless network across campus. Implemented a new voicemail system. Conducted planned and unplanned disaster drills. Joined InCommons and implemented a pilot project with Physics. Continued focus on data security and assisted with implementing a FERPA training course. Created a web-based interface for student telephone service and implemented an online archive for administrative telephone statements.
